IT Girls 3.0 event hosted at Baton Rouge Community College.  The event is geared to East Baton Rouge Parish Middle School girls, in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, and provides an opportunity for  female students to learn computer coding used in game and app design from local IT professionals. This programming falls during National Engineers Week (February 21-27), founded by the National Society of Professional Engineers to increase interest and understanding in engineering and technology careers. The event is co-sponsored by Louisiana Women in Technology (LaWIT), the Foundation for East Baton Rouge School System (EBRSS), and STEMup Baton Rouge, with IBM, Louisiana Technology Park, Geocent, Sparkhound, Costco, Whole Foods, Bet-R Grocery, and Best Buy.  Instructor : Introduction to Programming using Scratch.  Goals : Creating a PSA using Scratch. Some of the downsides are that you may not necessarily comprehend the full power of the tool-set you're using. Ruby makes complicated tasks fairly simple because Ruby has automated many things in the framework. In other words, you may lose a bit of base knowledge if you don't fully understand the shortcuts. Just wanted to link to this awesome tutorial on how to setup your database instance when using SQL Server 2012 Express editions . I have always installed the full version which creates a localDB with services to enable or disable at will. However, this application is definitely a resource hog. I'm hoping the express edition will suffice for my purposes. I will install the full version on a dedicated VM (using VMware). However, one extra step with the express edition is that you need to configure the local server and database manually. This tutorial helped me immensely. This is using Windows 7 64bit. How to install SQL Server 2012 and create a local SQLserver database. Enjoy!

Is your firewall blocking Google Drive? Many of us have faced issues of corporate firewall blocking drive.google.com, dropbox etc. My company suddenly decided that accessing google drive was prohibited.  However, I have found that you can access your files by installing google drive to your PC. First, you must find the installation files. Try searching for google tools and find a download link for google drive. Although this seems like a straightforward step, you will find that if your company blocks google drive, they sometimes have blocked the download sites as well. If the link is blocked, you may need to download the files outside of your firewall and then install them on your PC.
